Film audiences love seeing their actors in uniform. Playing the good guy, naturally. But while the archetypal defence forces man has not met with much success in Bollywood, the role of the good old cop has been revived, his khaki uniform dusted of mothballs, and he has been successfully resurrected on screen in many avatars over the last couple of years.
Credit for this, of course, ought to go to Salman Khan, whose Chulbul Pandey in Dabanng first raised the stock of the otherwise tainted Indian cop. He was closely followed by Ajay Devgn in Singham. With both actors bringing their own hatkeinterpretation of policing methods in the rural areas to appreciative front benchers across the country. Now every actor wants to be a cop on screen
